Which Cigarette Making Machine Do You Need?

These nine machines cover four jobs that happen in order. Most buyers need one or two of them, not all nine.

1. Cutting the tobacco

MK4

Primary processing, before anything is rolled. The MK4 cuts up to 2,700 kg of tobacco an hour, takes all blends of leaf and stem, and produces tobacco to any required texture. Leaf is conveyed and compressed through an adjustable-pressure mouthpiece into an eight-knife rotary head.

2. Making the cigarette

MK9, MK8D, MK8SM

The makers. These turn cut tobacco and paper into finished rods, and this is the machine most people mean by "cigarette making machine". Pick by output:

MK9 — 5,000 cigarettes a minute, 7.2 million a day
MK8D — 3,000 a minute
MK8SM — 2,500 a minute

3. Filters: making, then attaching

PM4, MFA3000, MAX 3, PA 7RO

Filter rods are made on one machine and joined to plain cigarettes on another. The joining machines are matched to a specific maker, which is the part buyers most often miss:

PM4 — makes the filter rods, 2,500 a minute
MFA3000 — in-line assembler, 3,500 filter-tipped cigarettes a minute
MAX 3 / MAX 5 — 3,000 a minute, links directly with the MK8D
PA 7RO — 2,000 a minute, designed to link with the MK8SM

4. Tax stamping

MTS 300

The compliance stage. The MTS 300 applies excise or tax stamps to finished packets at up to 300 packets a minute, on 2.0 kW and 1.0 m³/h of compressed air at 5 bar, from either single-phase 220 V or three-phase supply.

Everything above is the making half. After the cigarettes exist they go to packing, then overwrapping, cartoning and bundling.
