This Machine Is for You If...
You need high-speed medium-scale cigarette manufacturing for Tobacco Industry production
You're upgrading from manual processes to automated filter cigarette production
You need a machine that delivers hydraulic weight control unit with écréteur and adjustable end discs for precise density
How It Works
- 1
Prepared cut tobacco is metered by the feeder, which regulates flow for a consistent rod.
- 2
A continuously moving garniture tape gathers and shapes the tobacco into an endless rod of controlled diameter and density.
- 3
Cigarette paper is drawn in beneath the rod, forming a continuous paper-wrapped tube.
- 4
Seam adhesive is applied and the lap seam is sealed.
- 5
A rotating knife cuts the endless rod into individual cigarette lengths, which transfer to the catcher or plug assembler.
The MK8D descends from the Molins “Mark” series of cigarette makers, a lineage tracing back to the Molins Mk.1 of 1926. The Mark 8 became one of the world’s most widely installed and most rebuildable maker platforms — which is exactly why MOI, founded in 1960 as Molins of India, continues to build and refurbish machines on this proven design.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the MK8D make filter cigarettes on its own?
No — it forms the tobacco rod. Filters are attached separately by a coupled plug-assembling (tipping) unit such as a MAX assembler.
How does the MK8D differ from the MK9?
They share the same working principle; the MK9 is the higher-speed platform. The Mark-8 lineage is valued for its rebuildability and lower cost per machine.
Can it be paired with a plug assembler?
Yes. Mark-8-type makers are routinely run coupled to a filter/plug assembler to produce finished filter cigarettes.
Can it run different cigarette lengths?
Maker and assembler combinations in this family handle a range of standard lengths and circumferences via change parts. Confirm the supported range for your build with MOI.
