HLP 180 Hinge Lid Packing Machine
180 packs per minute — high-speed reliability for hinge lid packaging.

Overview
The HLP 180 is a high-performance hinge-lid cigarette packing machine built from five integrated assemblies — Filler Bed, Foil Embossing & Folding Unit, Blank Bed, Sealer Bed and Drying Drum — that together form a fully automatic packing system. Its modular design enables quick changeovers and high-speed operation of up to 180 packets per minute, supporting two rows of 10 cigarettes and three rows of 20. Packets are wrapped in aluminium foil with bonded tissue drawn automatically from a bobbin reel and embossed through a steel-on-steel unit, with an automatically cut and positioned inner frame for packet rigidity. Final folding and sealing use a Gravure Gumming System that applies adhesive through a sealed, low-maintenance glue unit, preventing glue skinning.

How It Works
- 1
The packer collates cigarettes and folds them into the inner foil block.
- 2
A cardboard blank is folded around it to form the hinge-lid box.
- 3
A stamper applies the revenue / tax band.
- 4
A wrapper overwraps the pack in film with tear-tape; a boxer collates packs into the carton.
- 5
An overwrapper finishes the carton — the five integrated assemblies forming a complete hinge-lid line.
The HLP 180 is the integrated, multi-assembly hinge-lid line in the Molins lineage — packer through to overwrapper delivered as one connected line. It descends from the same 1937 Molins hinge-lid patent and 1954 first commercial packer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the five assemblies?
Packer, stamper, wrapper, boxer and overwrapper — together forming a complete hinge-lid packing line.
What pack-corner styles are possible?
Hinge-lid lines of this class commonly support round-corner, bevel-edge, D-type and square packs; confirm the set fitted with MOI.
Can it run king-size?
Yes — hinge-lid lines in this family handle king-size down to shorter lengths via change parts.
